Sara Alessi
Dr. Sara Alessi graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a degree in molecular biology. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Alessi researched Mixed Lineage Leukemia at Loyola’s Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. During her time at Loyola, Dr. Alessi also studied abroad in Rome, Italy working for an Exotics & Emergency Veterinarian. This period ignited a love for travel and experiencing new cultures. Dr. Alessi then moved to the West Indies, Caribbean, to pursue her veterinary degree from St. George’s University. Dr. Alessi lived in the sunny caribbean for 3 years completing her final year of veterinary school at THE Ohio State University.
After successfully acquiring her DVM, she completed a rigorous year-long small animal rotating veterinary internship at MedVet Chicago Emergency and Specialty Hospital. She has worked at Premier Veterinary Group – Orland Park since February 2019.
Like many ER doctors, Dr. Alessi enjoys the high stress, fast-paced environment of the emergency department. She has a particular interest in trauma and anaphylaxis. She welcomes the challenge of difficult cases and strives to provide the best patient care as well as compassion for the owners of those patients.
